YIMBY
A play in development about the 'yes in my back yard' movement and what makes a home.

Yimby is a funny, heartfelt play which explores the growing tensions for those who say ‘not in my backyard’ and those who say ‘yes’. Avowed yimby Liss returns home with her partner Mo to help with her mother, Sue’s, campaign to protect the Village Green from development. But Liss has a secret – she has suggested the Green as an ideal place for medium density family housing to a new ‘Get Britain Building’ think tank. Mo is torn about whether they want to settle down with Liss, or escape the growing confines of a world that feels increasingly toxic. Jeanine, the centre’s administrator, relies on the Green to provide a sanctuary from her insecure housing status. Sue just wants to protect the space that made bringing up Liss as a single mother possible.
Yimby was developed as part of the Criterion Theatre's New Writers Group run by Greg Mosse.

An extract of the play will be performed on Friday 7th November at the Criterion Theatre as part of the New Writer's showcase.
